Bacteriostatic Water Vial Sizes Explained

Understand what BAC-water vial-size labels mean and how they differ from the volume actually added.

Labels such as 2 mL, 5 mL, 10 mL, and 30 mL describe the liquid quantity in a container. They do not tell you how much a particular medication requires.

Container amount vs. amount added

A container may hold more liquid than is used for one labeled preparation. Enter only the volume actually specified or confirmed—not the container’s total volume unless they are the same.

Reconstitution syringe capacity

Our planning calculator uses the selected reconstitution-syringe capacity to limit the BAC-water options it displays. That is a physical measurement constraint, not a product recommendation.

Check before using

Verify the container label, concentration or ingredients, expiration, storage, and the exact product’s permitted diluent and volume.
